Our technique to create ethanol is a zero-waste process. We utilize every part of the corn kernel we grind to produce the following co-products. These co-products include distillers grains, CO2, corn oil, and high-purity alcohol. Take a further look below at each of our co-products.

HIGH PURITY ALCOHOL

CORN OIL
Western New York Energy was one of the first in the industry to implement the technology now used by most, allowing us to extract oil from the corn kernels. This oil is used primarily for chicken feed or biodiesel production and other innovative uses.

DISTILLERS GRAINS
Western New York Energy is the Northeast’s exclusive producer of dairy distillers drain. Our dairy distillers grain is a unique defatted product with many advantages over conventional distillers grain. Our customers enjoy superior flowability, up-to-date nutrition information analysis, and in-house freight.

CO2
As part of the fermentation process, yeast consumes sugars to create alcohol and CO2. The CO2 is captured and sent to a CO2 refining plant operated by AirProducts, for compressing and purification, and ultimately sales into the beverage market.
