    — Accountant

    Job Summary

    Performs daily, monthly, annual accounting duties enabling WNYE to present financial statements compliant with US GAAP and accurate annual NYS and Federal tax and information returns.  Works with curiosity and strives to live the values of Western New York Energy.

      Duties and Responsibilities

      • Prepare monthly journal entries
      • Maintain prepaid and accrual schedules
      • Record fixed asset additions assigning appropriate lives and methods of depreciation
      • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements
      • Prepare schedules for and assist in year-end independent audit
      • Periodic reporting to various regulatory agencies
      • Learn and provide backup for billing of various WNYE produced products
      • Provide backup for other accounting and related functions
      • Ensure the validity of data for TTB reporting requirements

      Desirable Qualifications and Skills

        • Intermediate knowledge in Excel – comfortable using formulas, tables, pivot tables, IF and VLOOKUP functions
        • Thorough understanding of proper internal controls
        • Ability to handle the company’s financial information and other sensitive information in a highly confidential manner
        • Detail-oriented and committed to accuracy
        • Effective and professional communication both internally and externally

      Education and Experience

      • B.S in Accounting (completed or in progress) or related course study
      • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel
      • Experience in Microsoft Dynamics GP helpful, but not required

      — Lab Technician

      Job Summary

      The Lab Technician position is a professional who is involved in every aspect of laboratory work, from recording data to maintaining equipment.  They’re responsible for various tasks that follow strict guidelines and regulations, including protecting the accuracy and efficiency of experiments and lab testing while keeping the lab organized.

      Work Hours

      • Full time position
      • 12 hour monthly rotating shift (5:45 am to 6 pm; 5:45 pm to 6 am); 4 days one week (48.6 hrs); 3 days following week (36.45 hrs)
      • Alternate weekends
      • Holiday required based on schedule
      • Overtime required based on coverage
      • Company runs 24/7/365

      Duties and Responsibilities

      • Test raw materials, in-process and finished products
      • Perform tests and provide results in a timely manner according to written SOPs
      • Report out of specification results to Laboratory Management, the Quality Assurance Management, and Process Supervisor when appropriate
      • Record test results on appropriate form, in computer database, or in logbook.
      • Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment, including calibration of equipment when needed
      • Perform other work duties as requested by Laboratory management
      • Perform all duties according to safety standards and as required to ensure the general safety of all other staff
      • When needed, be able to collect samples from outside under harsh weather conditions
      • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, lift 50 pounds, and remain on your feet for long periods of time
      • Capable of working in a team environment and independently
      • Capable of working efficiently and accurately when juggling multiple priorities

      Requirements

      • Familiar with cGMP, ISO, or other quality management system
      • Familiar with HPLC, GC, IC, FTIR and UV equipment
      • Familiar with acid / base titrations, pH meters, density measurements and other basic lab equipment
      • Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word
      • Familiar with microscope for cells counts, a plus
      • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
      • Candidates considered must pass a pre-employment background check

      Education and Experience

      • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related scientific field
      • Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience
      • Experience with Microsoft Office – especially Outlook, Excel

      — Ethanol Plant Operator

      Nature of Work

      Under general supervision, performs work of routine ethanol production operations and related duties. Monitors process operating parameters and maintains them within specified parameters. Maintains logs and records. Performs sampling activities and conducts laboratory testing procedures. Operates powered industrial equipment. Participates in plant maintenance program, performs flushings, cleanings and lubrications. They must be able to climb stairs and ladders. Have a valid NYS driver’s license. Have a high school/GED diploma

      Essential Duties

      • Monitors computer systems for safe and efficient operation
      • Keeps records
      • Performs sampling activities and conducts laboratory test procedures as required by the QA program and procedures
      • Communicates with Laboratory Supervisor to ensure effective participation in the implementation of QA policies and procedures
      • Operates equipment, including forklifts and scissors lift
      • Monitors use and inventories of process chemicals and supplies
      • May assist with system installation, inspection and repair
      • Maintains equipment
      • Deals with system breakdowns and emergencies
      • Participates in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness
      • Participates in safety, health and environmental programs
      • Works in a safe manner at all times
      • Performs related tasks as requested by management
